The Crossback Beanie is an open-backed ponytail hat, knit as one piece, and then the tabs are crossed at the ends to frame the back. Wear your hair high or low, wear it in a bun or ponytail or braid. This hat allows you to do it all while keeping your ears and head warm without sacrificing space inside a normal stocking cap.
 
Instructions are provided for the hats pictured, using worsted, DK, and fingering weight yarns. That's right: you can use three different kinds of yarn with the same pattern! The different yarn gauges are color-coded, but if you are color-blind or don't have access to print in color, this will also print clearly in black and white.
